Well I certainly dropped the ball on getting back to you, didn't I! Every so often, things come to a head, and I allow myself to take an impromptu week off of publishing. It's not often, but last week was one of those weeks.
Hubs and I are 2.5 weeks through this 30 day detox, and I have to say the rumors are true. Better sleep; better energy; less brain fog; just better. It's simply amazing how capable our bodies are when we get out of our own way!
Some of you might be asking, "How on earth does one 'do a detox?'" For this that I am doing, it's super simple! Y'all know by now I do not believe there is any power behind diets. I believe in sustainable life changes, 2 degrees at a time. So, I love this program because we eliminate certain food groups, common allergens, and inflammatory foods... since inflammation is the root of ALL disease, including cancer.
Done.
Next, we incorporate the right supplements to help detox the liver and kidneys. Since those are our filters for garbage and toxins, it's so crucial that we take the time to flush them now and again, no? I once heard it put this way: "We are sending our liver and kidneys on a 30-day vacation." I love that!! I believe that is also true for the pancreas, since we are dramatically dropping our intake of sugars, and completely eliminating processed sugar.
I drink 2 yummy shakes per day (breakfast and lunch), and I've stocked up on detox-approved snacks and dinner foods.
Our life is simpler; our menu is simpler; we are healthier.
I'll check back in with you all next week! Until then, I hope you are all pushing through the discomfort threshold toward your goals this week, whatever they are! It's only OUTSIDE our comfort bubbles that true transition can actually take place!!
Cheers!
Lindsay
